CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow told a press conference today that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Malaysia Madani Hari Raya open house will be a meet-and-greet session between the country’s top officials and the public.
Chow said the open house, which would be held at six locations including Penang, is a platform to connect and reach out to the people.
“Open house takes place every single day.
“It is not something new, and clearly, it is not being used as a method to woo voters in view of the upcoming state elections as claimed by some parties,” Chow told reporters after attending the launching ceremony of the ‘PEARL – One Touch Penang’ application at the Town Hall in Jalan Padang Kota Lama today.
When a reporter asked why the open house was not just planned to be held in Putrajaya, Chow said it would be difficult for those living in Kedah or Perlis to travel all the way to Putrajaya for the open house.
“How many people can attend the open house if it is only held in Putrajaya?
“I believe one of the many objectives of this open house is to bring the event to the people. It must be welcomed.
“Well, it looks like some Opposition parties are running out of topics to provoke the current unity government,” Chow added.
Apart from Penang, the Malaysia Madani open house will also be held in five other states, namely Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu and Selangor.
