Record 5,000 participants at Glo-Walk Carnival this year

THIS year’s 9th edition of Glo-Walk Carnival courtesy of Tech Dome Penang was a grand success as it attracted 5,000 participants from all walks of life, who not only participated in the walk but had a splendid time with their families in other activities too.

 

Held on Sept 28 at Penang City Park, the carnival featured a variety of engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities that raised public awareness about the importance of science.

Everyone enjoyed a fun-filled day of hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity and creativity in STEM.

 

Many young faces were seen at the carnival as students from over 50 schools participated in the activity, bringing up the atmosphere with their excitement and vigour, eager to walk under the night sky and enjoy the gifts of nature.

 

The event was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, who was joined by Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) president Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai, who is also a board member at Tech Dome and its chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi.

Jagdeep, before flagging off the walk, delivered a brief speech, highlighting the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and continuous unity among the people.

 

This year’s Glo-Walk event featured multiple sponsors, with the two main sponsors being Greatech Technology and Flextronics.

Participants not only enjoyed a radiant walk but also a myriad of side activities, including but not limited to a variety of performances, zumba dances, and interactive STEM booth activities that kept the energy high and the night illuminated in colourful, radiant light.

 

The event was made even more merrier and special as 80 exciting lucky draw prizes were bagged home by lucky winners, namely a motorcycle as the top prize, followed by branded smartphones, hotel vouchers, complimentary tickets to The Habitat, Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm, Audi Farm, and various shopping and food and beverage vouchers.
