OVER the past 50 years, the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) Penang has served as a prominent voice for developers in the state, significantly contributing to the growth and progress of Penang, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Speaking at Rehda Penang’s Golden Jubilee Annual Dinner held at G Hotel Gurney in George Town, Chow highlighted Rehda’s pivotal role in fostering the development of new townships, generating employment, and creating business opportunities.
“The Penang government has been actively collaborating with Rehda Penang to address challenges faced by the industry.
“Rehda’s proactive engagement with the state government, agencies, and local authorities has led to meaningful progress for the government, housing, and property development sectors,” Chow noted.
Chow expressed his appreciation for the partnership between Rehda Penang and the Penang government in improving the quality of life for residents.
“We deeply value Rehda Penang’s cooperation in advocating for an improved quality of life for the people of Penang.
“Penang’s continued progress and prosperity can only be realised through the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, including Rehda, by fostering consultation, dialogue, and public-private partnerships,” Chow said.
He also extended his gratitude to Rehda Penang members for their steadfast support in enhancing Penang as a thriving state.
Chow further acknowledged Rehda Penang’s dedication and commitment to working closely with the state government, expressing hope for continued collaboration to benefit Penang in the years to come.
Meanwhile, Rehda Penang chairman Datuk Khoo Teck Chong reaffirmed the association’s readiness to partner with the state government in advancing Penang’s property and housing sectors.
“This includes collaborating with various state agencies to formulate housing guidelines and policies that improve the well-being of the state,” Khoo said.
Among those present at the event were Chinese consul-general in Penang Zhou Youbin, Penang Infrastructure, Transport and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, state Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, state Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, and Rehda Malaysia president Datuk Ho Hon Sang.
