The 585 meters of gravel road in Lorong Hong Seng Estate which cost some RM22,700 to be tarred was formerly an uneven road with many pot holes. It was a danger for motorcyclists and car drivers to use the road.

“There are many accidents recorded like motorcyclists felling off their machines using the uneven gravel road. Even car drivers are not spared from getting their tyres stuck inside the pot holes along the road,” MBPP’s councillor Kaliyappan P. Renganathan told reporters during a site visit on Nov 16 to Lorong Hong Seng to view the tarred road constructed for the area.

Joining him were assemblymember for Pulau Tikus, Chris Lee Chun Kit and assistant engineer for MBPP, Hazalina Zakaria.

Kaliyappan said for the past seven years, the road condition for Lorong Hong Seng was in a terrible condition, with numerous pot holes and uneven gravel road surface.

“With the completion of the tarred road, the welfare and public safety of road users can be taken care off,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lee said there should not be any stop for road improvement.

“MBPP and Public Workd Department (JKR) should work hand in hand to see that road repairs and improvement should be carried out accordingly.

“All improvement and repair work for roads should be channelled to the correct department to settle issues that arise,” he added.

“There should be no slow mentality. Think as one unit, to get things moving,” he commented.
