BEDRIDDEN patients in Air Itam who need transport to the Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) need not fret.
Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang said his service centre has collaborated with St John Ambulance Penang to ferry them to the PPVs.
“All they need is to call our service centre (016- 4219 143) at least two days earlier for the St John’s volunteers to make the necessary arrangements.
“My team at the service centre will take down the particulars of the patients and then forward the information to the St John Ambulance.
“After that, the volunteers from St John will do the necessary arrangements to send the patients to the PPVs,’’ he told Buletin Mutiara.
Ng added that the programme, which was newly launched last Sunday, mainly caters to Air Itam residents who are bedridden.
“We decided to collaborate with the St John Ambulance since its center is situated in my constituency.
“When we approached them to join hands with us to help the community, they responded positively,’’ said Ng.
Apart from that, Ng said he has also initiated another collaboration, that is with the Eden Handicap service centre, to help the disabled get to the vaccination centres.
“This service also requires an appointment, maybe two or three days earlier. This is to ensure a smooth transportation for those who need help,’’ Ng added.
