Rep welcomes Penang govt’s initiative to set up Penang2030 centre at each state constituency

TOWARDS making Penang a place that is even more enviable than it already is, initiatives taken by the state government and relevant stakeholders revolving the Penang2030 vision of ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’ have so far been instrumental.

 

While the efforts have so far been on top gear, a state assemblyman here has voiced out his concerns that the state government should further accelerate the digital world in Penang with new approaches, mainly with the involvement of the people.

 

Lee Khai Loon (PH – Machang Bubuk) has welcomed the Penang government’s move to set up a Penang2030 centre at each of the 40 state constituencies.

 

This, he said, would be a crucial move to encourage the participation of the local communities, and to assist the state in its mission of making Penang an even greater destination in various aspects.

 

“The constituencies are the closest destinations for the people, and through this proposed Penang2030 centre, those who are unaware of such an initiative, can get latest updates on activities revolving it.

 

“Digital Penang’s role must be utilised to the core here as they can assist to set up a strong information technology (IT) system at each of this constituency.

 

“And this is to provide easy and fast services for the people, and ultimately, drive even further to turn these service centres into digital integrated service centres,” Lee said during the State Legislative Assembly sitting at the State Assembly Building in Light Street today.

 

Lee also stressed the importance of research and development (R&D), and how it would be important for the state to embark on to boost the various industries that have been the major backbones in driving the state’s economy.
