THE caretaker Penang government is committed to ensuring a liveable environment for the people in the state.
Caretaker state Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said residents at Taman Free School would now have a comfortable neighbourhood after repairs were carried out at their flats.
“There were cracks detected at the staircases of the two blocks of flats. We immediately appointed a contractor to repair the structures for safety reason.
“The RM590,300 cost was borne by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP). The works began on April 11 last year and were completed on May 30 this year,” he said during his visit this morning.
In addition to the repair works, Jagdeep said another two blocks of the flats in the vicinity were repainted.
“The MBPP covered the cost of RM97,112 for the repainting project, which is currently in progress,” said Jagdeep, who is also the former Datok Keramat assemblyman.
