PENANG elected representatives, civil servants and aides to respective assemblymen were today briefed on details of mySalam B40 health protection scheme.
Introduced by the Finance Ministry on Jan 1 this year, the scheme aimed to cover those who are diagnosed with critical illness.
The mySalam scheme was introduced with a start-up contribution of RM2bil from Great Eastern insurance and takaful companies.
Under the scheme, those aged from 18 to 55 are eligible while selected recipients of Bantuan Sara Hidup would also get free health protection for 36 critical illnesses.
In the briefing held at Auditorium A in Komtar, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, who is also the political secretary to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, said parliamentarians and local assemblymen need to provide the best service to the people as they were given mandate by them.
He pointed out any of the constituents’ plight and demands need to be taken seriously apart from addressing welfare, social and social development issues.
He said the Federal Government had come out with few initiatives to assist the people, including the mySalam scheme specifically for needy people.
“I hope this session will assist all of you to have a better understanding of the scheme so that assistance can be provided to the people,” he added.
This scheme is implemented from Jan 1 2019 to Dec 31 2023.
