THE rescued children from homes operated by Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) in Penang are safe and in good condition, according to state Social Development, Welfare and Non-Religious Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim.
Lim (PH-Sungai Pinang) stated that approximately 200 children are currently well cared for at a welfare home in Nibong Tebal following their rescue.
She said she has not obtained any updates regarding their return to their families as the matter is still pending court clearance.
Lim was responding to a supplementary question from Connie Tan (PH-Seri Delima) during the State Legislative Assembly session today.
Tan sought updates on the case’s development in Penang and inquired about the state’s efforts and guidelines to address such incidents.
Lim emphasised that inspections would be conducted at welfare homes across Penang as part of the state’s measures to prevent similar issues in the future.
