A RETAINING wall has been built near the Sai Baba Temple in Jalan Paya Terubong here to prevent further soil erosion in the area.
It was constructed following a landslip in March this year.
Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said the construction works were carried out in May.
He said the estimated cost was RM75,000.
“The retaining wall will at least secure the safety of the area. The area is prone to landslips whenever it rains.
“My office has allocated RM50,000 while RM10,000 was from the office of Paya Terubong assemblyman Yeoh Soon Hin.
“The temple committee paid the remaining amount,” he told reporters after visiting the site today.
Ramkarpal added that the project was a collaboration between the Bukit Gelugor and Paya Terubong offices for the sake of people’s safety.
The construction of the wall was undertaken by contractor KK Multiple Services.
The temple committee chairman N. Radahkrishnan was thankful to Ramkarpal and Yeoh for their contributions.
