THE Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) has initiated a project, called ‘Cancer Ribbons for Hope’, to collect ribbons and raise money for their Cancer Fund.

The public is encouraged to drop by the hospital to show their support for the project at the pop-out booth. For a minimum of RM5 donation, the donor will receive a pin.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin commended PAH for their effort as well as for organising ‘World Cancer Day: I AM and I Will’ at Relau Agrotourism Centre on March 1.

“I appreciate the hospital’s effort to raise cancer awareness, educate the public and support the cancer patients in their fight against cancer,” Yeoh said in his speech when he officiated the event.

The activities at the event included ‘Meet the Expert’, in which there was a Q&A session with consultant oncologists, family treasure hunt, complimentary health screening and healthy food cooking demonstration.

PAH senior director of finance Albin Phua said as a health promoting hospital, the focus of PAH is to improve the community’s awareness by developing a healthy culture and lifestyle standard through a series of activities and campaigns.

He said the theme of World Cancer Day 2020 – I Am and I Will – was an empowering call to action, asking individuals to make a personal commitment to help reduce the impact of cancer. The World Cancer Day falls on Feb 4 yearly.

PAH also thanked Man Man Market for collaborating with them, the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) Penang Branch and Chong Cheng Primary School for their support and sponsors Analisa Resources, Biomedia SPD Scientific, Adventist Bakery and Audi Farm for making the event possible.
