TO ease the burden of the underprivileged families in the Air Putih constituency, a total of 200 bags of rice (5kg each) were distributed, courtesy of the Air Putih state constituency office.
A brief presentation ceremony was held at Dewan MPKK Bukit Bendera today.
Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng said the rice aid programme, costing RM4,000 from his constituency’s allocation, aimed to support underprivileged families and several welfare homes.
“The recipients included House of Hope which received 30 bags of rice, Crystal Home Penang (20 bags), Persatuan Kebajikan Ji Xiang (20 bags), Persatuan Rumah Cahaya Harapan (five bags), Sapphire Nursing Home (20 bags) and Naam Nursering Home (15 bags).
“Additionally, 20 bags of rice were given to the Kampung Baru MPKK (Village Community Management Council), 10 bags to Taman Sempadan MPKK, 20 bags to Bukit Bendera MPKK and 10 bags to Taman Reservoir MPKK to be distributed to the underprivileged families under the Air Putih constituency.
“Hopefully, this assistance will alleviate the burden on the people, especially the underprivileged families in this constituency,” he said.
Also present during the programme were assemblymen Phee Syn Tze (Sungai Puyu), Chee Yeeh Keen (Bagan Jermal), Kumaran Krishnan (Bagan Dalam), Wong Yuee Harng (Pengkalan Kota), Heng Lee Lee (Berapit) and Joseph Ng Soon Siang (Air Itam).
