THE Penang government has approved a total of 233 applications for private housing maintenance projects, totalling RM34 million under the Penang Maximum 80 percent Maintenance Fund (TPM80PP) programme from 2008 till February this year.
State Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the applications were meant for the 386 housing schemes.
“From this, it clearly shows the state is committed to assisting the private housing maintenance issues, which include lifts, water tanks and rooftops. We want to provide the best for the people.
“Under the programme for private housing maintenance projects, the state is contributing 80% while the remaining is borne by the Joint Management Body (JMB) or Management Committee (MC).
” That’s why it’s important for the high-rise dwellers to pay their monthly maintenance fee to ensure every project could be carried out smoothly,” he told a press conference.
Jagdeep had earlier announced an allocation of RM90,560 to replace two unit of water tanks at a flat in Taman Soon Boon Kee, Jalan Makloom.
“The state had on Feb 3 agreed to replace the water tanks at a cost of RM113,200,” he said.
The water tanks replacement is expected to be completed by year end.
Also present were Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen and Taman Soon Boon Kee Joint Management Body (JMB) Committee chairman K. Kumarasamy.
