MOTORISTS in south Seberang Perai can now enjoy a smoother traffic following the completion of a road upgrading project near the Bukit Tambun toll plaza.
State Works, Utilities and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the project, costing about RM330,000, was undertaken by Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) and Public Works Department (PWD).
“The project, which was started on July 10 last year, took about 20 weeks to complete, ending successfully on Nov 29 last year.
“With the completion of the project, the traffic problem there has now been resolved to benefit the people using the road.
“The PWD was tasked with upgrading the road while the scope of work for MBSP included installing traffic lights, streetlights and closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs),” he told reporters when inspecting the site today.
Zairil added that MBSP had during a meeting on July 10, 2018, agreed with the plan to upgrade the road in the vicinity.
Also present during the visit were Batu Kawan MP Kasthuriraani Patto, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik, MBSP personnel and PWD officers.
