Hard Rock Hotel Penang general manager Michael Smeeton highlighted the significance of this year’s run, stating, “RTRR 2025 is a special one as we celebrate a decade of giving back to the community. What started as a humble mission in 2010 has evolved into a symbol of unity, kindness, and the power of collective effort.”
“For this milestone year, we are proud to announce not one, but two official beneficiaries. The first one is Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Ferringhi and Caring Hearts Berhad, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing education for refugees and underprivileged children in our local community.
“For SK Batu Ferringhi, we aim to refurbish a classroom to make it accessible and safe for students with special needs, ensuring that education is inclusive for all.
“And for Caring Hearts Berhad, with your help, we hope to provide them with opportunities for a brighter future through education.
“After all, at Hard Rock, our mottos form the foundation of everything we do: ‘All Is One, Love All – Serve All, and Take Time to Be Kind’. Rock to Rock Run is a testament to these values and our commitment to making a positive impact for our community,” Smeeton told a press conference at the hotel today.
Also present were Penang Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Penang State Sports Council director Harry Chai Heng Hua, Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) group chief financial officer Dr Mary Ann Harris, Penang Amateur Athletics Association (PAAA) honorary secretary Govindasamy Veeriah, Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang chapter honorary secretary John Kim, SK Batu Feringghi headmaster Roslinda Nayan and Caring Hearts Berhad managing director Franklin Henry Valade Jr.
Meanwhile, Gooi said Rock to Rock Run exemplifies how events can unite the community while aligning with the Penang2030 vision of a family-focused state.
“By encouraging family participation and strengthening community bonds, this event contributes to a brighter future for Penang.
“Moreover, since its launch in 2010, this charity event has supported the local community and promoted health awareness.
“Over the years, it has garnered a loyal following and helped numerous beneficiaries such as Rumah Seri Cahaya, Crystal Family Home and the Association of Rehab of The Disabled, Asia Community Service Stepping Stone Centre, SJK (C) Permatang Tinggi, SJK (C) Yok Eng, Malaysia Civil Defence and Mutiara Food Bank, with total donations exceeding RM500,000!
“Thus, I look forward to seeing everyone at the Rock to Rock Run 2025 on June 15. Together, let us make this milestone event a resounding success!,” he concluded.
