SME Association of Seberang Perai, in collaboration with flexiEdge Training PLT, will hold a Safety & Health Conference 2019: “Tweaking OSH Mindset, Cultivating OSH Culture”, at Hotel Equatorial on Feb 18-19 from 9am to 5pm.
The speakers taking part are from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Penang, Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH), Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Malaysia (HFEM), SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd and Internal SOS Malaysia Sdn Bhd. They also include safety consultant, electrical consultant and first aid consultant from the industries.
Deputy Chief Minister II Prof P. Ramasamy, who is also the state Economic Planning, Education, Human Resource Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman, said the conference was very important to re-emphasise the occupational safety and health culture at the workplace.
“The conference is to heighten the awareness about occupational safety and health issues. If we neglect them, they will cost the government and private sector a lot of money,” Ramasamy told reporters in Komtar today.
Also present were SME Seberang Perai president Francis Wong, SME Seberang Perai treasurer Leong Yook Kheong, flexiEdge Training PLT skill solutions partners Felicia Tham and Quah Eng Siang.
Wong said the conference would provide updates on the new Occupational Safety and Health Guidelines in particular to SME owners and safety & health officers while Tham added that Penang Hospital and Pantai Hospital would hold a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstration using automated external defibrillator (AED) and a complimentary blood test respectively.
The fee for the two-day conference is RM950 per person but registered safety & health officers and SME Association of Seberang Perai members get a special rate of RM800 per person. Each participant qualifies to collect 15 CEP points.
