TO experience the intense emotions and movement of the salsa, one has to be in the live audience where the dancers sway, gyrate and swing to the heart-pounding and sometimes titilating music.
There is no milder word to describe the dance that originates from Puerto Rico.
Penangites, local tourists and foreign visitors got themselves the spectacle of the real sizzling salsa dance at the Gurney Paragon on May 2 when dancers from several countries were in Penang for the Penang Salsa Fiesta 2015.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari joined hundreds of people to see the skilled dancers perform.
“It is my hope that Penang Salsa Fiesta will be the catalyst for many more dance-related events to be held here. As Penang aspires to be an international and intelligent city, it is important that we are a city of culture and arts. Having international dancing events will help Penang to become a city of culture,” Lim said in his opening speech.
The crowd cheered and clapped when Lim assured them: “Let Penang be your platform to find and unleash your creative soul, an oasis in an otherwise barren desert of work and commitments!”} else {
