NEEDY students, particularly from B40 families in the Seri Delima constituency, received RM60 school uniform vouchers yesterday (Dec 3) to help ease their financial burden as the new school year approaches.
Seri Delima assemblyman Connie Tan, who distributed the vouchers, said 200 students benefitted from the initiative.
“The funds came from my constituency allocation, and I hope this can reduce their families’ strain when school session resumes.
“This is the second time I have given out school uniform vouchers since I was elected. The first time was last year.
“I hope the students will make full use of the vouchers,” Tan told reporters at the presentation ceremony.
Tan also encouraged her constituents aged 15 to 30 to apply for the Skim Insentif Kecemerlangan Bakat Muda Pulau Pinang (SIKBMPP) under the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC).
“Youth can visit the PYDC website to apply for the scheme starting in January next year,” she said.
Meanwhile, a mini-concert featuring Tan will take place at Taman Kejiranan Lintang Delima 10 on Dec 9 at 7.30pm.
Tan said she will perform during the event and share insights from her journey as a Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor to becoming a state assemblyman.
