THE third Seberang Perai Fiesta will be held at the Seberang Jaya Expo Site on the mainland of Penang from Sept 26 to 30.
Like the past two years, the festival comprises a combination of three main attractions – the Agrofest Penang, Penang Food Festival and Northsantara Artwave Festival.
State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin said they hope thousands of local and foreign tourists would take the opportunity to throng the festival as various exciting programmes are lined up for them.
He said the festival, featuring 48 booths, would involve government agencies like the Agriculture Department, Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP), Veterinary Services Department, Fisheries Department, Federal Agriculture Marketing Agency (Fama) and Integrated Development Area (IADA), an agency under the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry.
Penang Governor Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas will launch the festival on Sept 29 at 8pm.

Apart from showcasing agricultural products, local artistes will be performing to attract the crowd. Some other activities include fishing competition, karaoke competition, cat show, the demonstration of rice-planting techniques using modern technology.
The Agrofest will showcase the best products offered by farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen while the Penang Food Festival will be a treat for foodies.
The Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) will display beautiful ornamental fishes and exotic turtles.
Dr Afif said for this year, the site for the festival is declared a non-smoking zone. Besides that, littering is prohibited and action may be taken against offenders.
