REPRESENTATIVES from four Nordic countries – Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden – have approached Penang, expressing their interest to hold a seminar to promote sustainability through Nordic solutions.
Ambassador of Denmark to Malaysia Jesper Vahr, Ambassador of Norway to Malaysia Gunn Jurid Roset, Finland honorary consul Datuk Poh Kim Seng, Denmark honorary consul Lio Chee Yeong and the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Sweden in Kuala Lumpur Ola Pihlblad paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office in Komtar today to express their purpose.
Vahr said they wanted to hold the seminar in Penang due to the state’s Penang2030 vision and its green initiatives.
Roset said the seminar, venue to be decided soon, would involve government stakeholders responsible for green economy and sustainability.
“There will also be companies representing the different Nordic countries.
“As Governments, we have a joint commitment to promote sustainability.
“The seminar is also aimed at helping and nurturing green technology businesses,” she said.
Chow thanked the delegates for their visit and invitation.
The seminar is scheduled to be held on Dec 10.
