Serenada Harmoni finals set for Queensbay Mall

THE finals of the Serenada Harmoni Malaysia-China Northern Zone Youth Singing Competition 2025 will be held at the Centre Atrium, Queensbay Mall, Penang, on Feb 8.

 

Organised by the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), this competition marks the fourth collaboration between PYDC and the Chinese Consulate in Penang. Recognised by the Penang government and approved by the Education Ministry, the event aims to nurture young musical talents while providing a platform for them to showcase their skills.

 

Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, the state executive councillor for Sports, Youth, and Health, noted the competition received an overwhelming response, with a total of 120 participants in the preliminary round.

“The participants are divided into two categories: School Category and Open Category, with entries from four northern states: Penang, Kedah, Perlis, and Perak,” he said during a press conference in Komtar today.

 

“The competition not only serves as a platform for young performers to display their talents but also reflects the diversity of cultures and races among Malaysian youth by bringing together participants from different backgrounds.”

 

Also present at the press conference were Batu Uban assemblyman and PYDC board member A. Kumaresan, PYDC board member Fadzli Roslan, PYDC general manager Lum Chia How and Queensbay Mall’s marketing communications manager Patricia Chin.

 

The finalists for the grand finale were selected by a panel of judges, including founder of The Centre Music Academy Karen Chan, international singer Kamal Chopra, and Ahmad Fitri, a cultural officer from the Penang State Department of Culture and Arts.

 

With a total cash prize of RM13,600, the competition offers rewards for the top five winners in both the School and Open categories, with the champions receiving RM3,000.

 

The grand finale of the Serenade of Harmony Malaysia-China Northern Zone Youth Singing Competition 2025 will feature a distinguished panel of judges, including performing artist Abin Fang, renowned singer-songwriter Saint Kylo, and professional singer Ramnah Ramli, who was a finalist in the 1985 Bintang RTM competition.
