THE Lions Club of Penang Rising Star has donated 100 bags containing foodstuff and other items to the service centre for the Tanjong parliamentary and Padang Kota constituency.
The bags will be distributed to the affected families which are facing financial difficulties during these trying times.
Its president Dr Sotheenathan Krishinan said the Lions Club of Penang Rising Star has contributed the food bags to seven service centres, including the Tanjong parliamentary and Padang Kota constituency service centre, under its ‘Food Bank Project’.

“Our club is relatively new, but we have organised about 70 charity projects in the past two years.
Organising chairperson Loh Chai Kooi said the donations were from its members and the public.
“Currently, we have 42 members in our club,” she said.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said thanked the Lions Club of Penang Rising Star for its contribution.

“Many non-governmental organisations, including the Lions Club, have come forward and offer their help to the needy during this difficult period.
“Contributions and support have also been given to the healthcare frontliners who are working very hard to control the spread of Covid-19.
“This shows that Malaysians are proactive in helping and reaching out to the needy groups.
“The fight against Covid-19 is a worldwide challenge. The new variants seem to spread more quickly and cause more death.
“We have to work hard to ensure that the virus can be contained. Let us work together and support each other to triumph over the pandemic,” he said.
Also present was charter president David Seow Chee Hoe.
