THE well-being of the elderly folk at nursing homes in Penang has always been close to the state government’s heart.
The state has consistently prioritised their welfare to ensure their livelihoods are taken care of, especially with the rising living cost.
Today, the Naam Nursing Home in Pinhorn Road has received RM50,000, courtesy of Jelutong MP R.S.N Rayer from his parliamentary allocation.
State Environment and Welfare Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who was present for the brief cheque handover ceremony, was pleased with the allocation given.
“I am appealing to all these homes in Penang to get themselves registered with the state Welfare Department for better management.
“This is important to ensure that they can enjoy the benefits given by us like the exemption of certain applicable fees.
“We will do our best to assist them in whatever way we can,” he told Buletin Mutiara.
Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong expressed his sincere gratitude to Rayer and Phee for their assistance.
“I spend about RM3,000 monthly for some of their necessities.
“Their home will be upgraded soon. We want them to stay in a livable environment,” he said.
Also present were Rayer and the nursing home’s founder B. Babyselvarani.
