THE Silver Jubilee Home, in keeping with its tradition of bringing joy during the festive season, celebrated the Chinese New Year (CNY) with its residents today.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow commended the home for its dedication, commitment, and continuous initiatives aimed at ensuring the well-being of the elderly.
He also expressed hope that the newly appointed trustees and committee members would uphold the standard of excellence in serving the residents at the Silver Jubilee Home.
“Care and compassion are essential to run the home.
“I strongly hope that the new committee and the staff will be like a close-knit family, pursuing our vision and objectives for the betterment of the home. I have no doubt that the Silver Jubilee Home, as one of the most well-run centres for the elderly, will continue advancing and maintaining its excellent work,” Chow said during the CNY dinner at the Silver Jubilee Home today.
Chow also shared that the state government has been consistently advocating the importance of active ageing for the past few years, collaborating with the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society (MHAS) through the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC).
“These efforts were undertaken under the leadership of our former state executive councillor Datuk Seri Chong Eng.
“Rest assured, the elderly will be well taken care of, if not by family members, then at least by the state government through its age-friendly policies,” added Chow, who is also the Silver Jubilee Home Board of Trustees chairman.
Currently, there are a total of 138 residents at the home.
Datuk Seri Jerry Chan, a general committee member, expressed the home’s commitment to providing the best possible care for the elderly.
“Thank you to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, and Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan for their contribution to organising the event today. We will do our best to take care of our residents here,” he said.
Also present were former state executive councillor Datuk Seri Chong Eng, who is also a trustee of Silver Jubilee Home, state executive councillor Lim Siew Khim, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, and Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan.
