Singing for a good cause

RENOWNED bridal fashion designer Daniel Tang will indulge in his favourite past time – singing – but this time it is for a greater cause.

Daniel will be belting it out to raise funds to assist patients with renal failure.

At a press conference on Sept 11, state exco member for Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Phee Boon Poh announced that all proceeds from Tang’s Music Show will go to the CAT Dialysis Centre in Balik Pulau.

“The cheques will be issued to the Penang state government and the money raised will benefit the Penang Dialysis Centre in Balik Pulau which currently has 10 dialysis machines. The centre, a project under the Penang Community Chest, charges only RM30 per patient and those who can’t afford to pay are even fully subsidised,” Phee said.

Together with Phee during the press conference was Paya Terubong assemblymember Yeoh Soon Hin.

Tang’s dinner concert is scheduled to take place on Nov 10 at HGH Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur between 7pm to 10.30pm and will feature some of the most popular Mandarin and Cantonese hits from the 1980s.

“We thank the Penang state government for the support given to us for this charity concert event. After deductions of all incurred expenses, the balance will be donated to the beneficiary, the CAT Dialysis Centre,” said Alan Kok, the spokesperson for the event.

Veteran Hong Kong actress Michelle Yim, better known by her stage name Mai Suet, her sister Shirley Xue Li and Malaysian singer Lester Fong will be making guest appearances at the event.

Tables for Tang’s dinner concert are priced at RM1,500, RM3,000 and RM5,000.
