THE Mutiara Food Bank, with the collaboration of Persatuan Suri dan Anggota Wanita Perkhidmatan Awam (Puspanita) Cawangan Negeri Pulau Pinang, distributed a total of 100 food packs to single mothers recently.
Chief Minister’s wife, Madam Tan Lean Kee, who was the guest of honour during the food pack distribution ceremony at Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang on Oct 29, thanked both Mutiara Food Bank and Puspanita for their kind gesture.
“Each food pack consists of essential grocery items, such as rice packet, cooking oil, sugar packet, wheat flour, coffee powder and noodles (bihun).
“Previously, the Mutiara Food Bank and Puspanita had also contributed 500 food packs to the low-income families from all five districts.
“So, we hope with this contribution, it will help ease the burden of single mothers,” Tan said while adding that the recipients were from northeast and southwest districts.
Tan also hoped that the Mutiara Food Bank and Puspanita will continue to carry out their community activities to improve the lives of the needy.
Also present were Puspanita Cawangan Negeri Pulau Pinang vice-chairman Datin Noriza Yusoff, Puspanita Cawangan Negeri Pulau Pinang’s Social and Welfare bureau chairman Datin Shaferrihaiza Shah Budin and Mutiara Food Bank vice-chief operating officer Jasniza Jamaluddin.
