SJK (C) Kong Min Cawangan 2 to receive upgraded fire safety and CCTV system pending approval

AN application to upgrade facilities at SJK (C) Kong Min Cawangan 2 in Paya Terubong has been proposed and will be submitted for approval next year, according to Paya Terubong assemblyman Wong Hon Wai.

During a visit to the school today, Wong stated that a proposal to upgrade the fire extinguishers and instal 45 closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) will be submitted for review by the Penang Chinese Education Affairs Coordinating Committee.

“In an effort to enhance the school’s security system, we aim to create a more conducive learning environment for the students,” he said.

Wong shared that the cost to upgrade the fire extinguishers is estimated at RM47,800, while the installation of 45 CCTVs is projected at RM46,000.

“Ensuring a safe environment for our students is crucial to prevent any untoward incidents,” he added.

Wong also highlighted that repairs to the rooftop of one of the school’s blocks were completed this year after receiving RM80,000 in state funding, though the total cost of the repairs amounted to RM140,000.

“The remaining expenses were covered by the school, and we are pleased to see the project completed,” he said.

In his capacity as state Tourism and Creative Economy chairman, Wong stressed the urgent need for more professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields in the state.

“We encourage schools to focus on STEM education to cultivate talents capable of meeting market demands and to foster interactive learning environments,” he noted.

Additionally, Wong announced that 40 pupils from B40 families will take part in a day tour to Entopia Penang, expressing hope that the visit will be a valuable educational experience for the selected students.
