He highlighted the company’s notable advancements, including its work on High Bandwidth Memory 3E (HBM3E), Die-to-Die interconnects, Network-on-Chip IP, and 4nm AI chips, emphasising their alignment with Penang’s vision to lead in high-tech industries such as IC design and artificial intelligence.

“Your achievements underscore your vision and expertise while complementing Penang’s ambition to remain a hub for cutting-edge technological developments,” he said.

Chow also commended SkyeChip’s commitment to talent development through initiatives like the SkyeChip Graduate Associate Programme and sponsorship of Final Year Projects, which have benefited over 100 students and supported 90 graduates.

“These efforts are cultivating a new generation of innovators who will shape the future of IC design in Malaysia.

“Your dedication to fostering creativity and nurturing talent reflects the progressive spirit Penang is known for,” Chow added.

Reflecting on Penang’s transformation over the past five decades, Chow stressed the state’s emergence as a global leader in the semiconductor industry.

He cited the Penang Silicon Design @5KM+ initiative as a crucial step in solidifying Penang’s position as a world-class IC design hub.

“This RM120 million initiative, co-funded by the state and Federal governments, aims to establish a cutting-edge ecosystem to drive growth in the global IC design market, projected to reach USD84.16 billion by 2030,” Chow said.

He also pointed out the state’s incentive packages, offering subsidies of up to RM2 million annually for three years, which have successfully attracted both local and international industry players.
