Slope restoration work near Southview Bungalow set to be completed next month

THE restoration work of the slope at a part of the route towards the Southview Bungalow in Penang Hill is expected to be completed on April 30.

State Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said as of now, the restoration work has shown good progress and is ahead of the scheduled time.

He said the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is overseeing the project which commenced on Dec 31 last year.

“It involves construction works such as micropile, soil nailing, reinforced concrete wall (RC Wall) as well as the drainage and road resurfacing.

“The slope restoration work cost nearly a total of RM364,000 and is borne by the city council itself.

“As of March 1, the percentage of work progress on site has exceeded the original work plan by 26% or 31 days in advance.

“However, the work needs to be done swiftly for the safety of the public as well as the environment.

“Not only that, the restoration work will also ensure that the slopes nearby the Southview Bungalow are safe and stable,” he told a press conference during a site visit today.
