SMK Mutiara Impian defeated Penang Free School 1-0 to win the 2022 FAP Tanjong Cup Under-19 League final at the City Stadium in Datuk Keramat yesterday.
Lau Keng Ee, who is Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s special affairs officer in Padang Kota, presented the prizes to the winners.
SMK Mutiara Impian received RM1,500 while the Frees received RM1,000. The two losing semi-finalists – Padang Polo Recreation Club and Kampung Makam Sports Club – pocketed RM500 each.
According to Lau, this year’s tournament, back after being halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, attracted 20 teams.
Since its inception about a decade ago, it has attracted numerous teams.
Also present at the final match were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, who is also Chow’s political secretary, and FAP vice-president Mohd Azizudin Mohd Sharif.
