SMK St Mark to fully utilise funds from state govt

THE Board of Governors of SMK St Mark in Butterworth is thankful to the Penang government for allocating funds to the school last week.

Acting board chairman Soong Hoe Pin told Buletin Mutiara that the funds allocated to the school would be used to repair the roof of one of the old buildings.

“Many tiles and gutters have broken, resulting in the damage of some parts of the wooden ceiling and water leakage in some of the classrooms and corridors.

“It is a timely boost as we plan to change the roof tiles, gutters and the ceiling of the building.

“We will utilise the funds for such purposes to secure a better studying environment for the students,” he said.

The state government had given out funds to various types of schools in the state recently.

Soong expressed his gratitude to the state for prioritising the missionary school’s welfare.

“We truly appreciate the fund received from the state and we hope to upgrade the students’ toilets, science labs, walkways and other facilities as well.

“The allocation of funds for maintenance of school buildings will certainly help create a better and safer environment for the students,” he said.

On the school’s plans, Soong said the school would upgrade its ICT facilities.

“More projectors and smart TVs need to be installed in some of the special rooms, such as in the conference room, seminar room, computer lab and library.

“We hope to create WIFI zones in the school’s compound to ensure a smoother learning environment,” he said.
