Soaring deals from airasia food

AIRASIA food is giving away unlimited free delivery (15km distance) for four weeks beginning May 15, for app users staying on Penang island.

AirAsia’s super app head of e-commerce Lim Ben-Jie said airasia food would be having its soft launch in Penang on May 15.

“Besides the unlimited free delivery, we are also lowering our normal commission rate from 15% to 10% for two weeks, from May 15.

“The lower commission rate will benefit airasia food merchants in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.

“We are very excited to come to Penang. Currently, we have about 20 food merchants on Penang island who have signed up with us (airasia food). We hope to expand our delivery service to Seberang Perai in the next two to three months.

“We are looking forward to sign up some 100 food merchants in Penang,” Lim said in an interview recently.

He said that airasia food had between 100 and 200 food delivery riders in Penang.

Lim added that the third movement control order (MCO) would be painful for everyone.

“Hence, we initiate these two amazing deals for Penang,” he said.

He said the lower commission rate and the free delivery service would benefit Penangites – customers get free delivery services, and food merchants get a good deal.

“Our commission is much lower than other food delivery service providers that charge between 35% and 40%,” he said.

Lim said Penangites should try out AirAsia’s super app – the ‘airasia, The Asean Super App’ – and enjoy both deals.

The ‘airasia, The Asean Super App’ comprises the airasia food and several categories of services such as flights, hotels, health, groceries (airasia fresh), airasia beauty, and others.

He said that users could use the AirAsia BIG Points to purchase the products or services in the super app.

Lim said the AirAsia e-commerce business was hoping to spread its wings to Kota Kinabalu in June this year, followed by Bangkok, Bandung and a major city in the Philippines.

“We hope to completely launch the airasia food in all major cities in Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Johor Baru – by end of this year.” he said.

Lim said those who would like join the delivery team could check out https://newsroom.airasia.com/news/teleport-by-airasia-ramps-up-benefits-for-delivery-partners for more details.
