CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has lauded the Society of Disabled Persons Penang (SDPP) for its caring deeds towards the needy.
“SDPP has been the forerunner of organisations that advocate disability awareness.
“The society plays an important role in conveying the needs of its members to the relevant authorities.
“The local councils are also concern and aware of their needs.
“Specially designed car parks and ramps are built to provide greater accessibility for folk with special needs to access public spaces,” Chow said during the Chinese New Year open house, organised by SDPP at Goh Kongsi in Nordin Street on February 18.
Chow said the open house fostered closer ties between the society members.
Society president Datuk Teh Lay Kuan hoped that the government and private sector could step up their enforcement towards those who misuse parking lots for the disabled.
Also present was Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi.
