TO support the well-being of children affected by cancer, Friends of Childhood Cancer (FOCCAN) Northern Malaysia, in collaboration with the state Health Department (JKNPP), is organising the ‘Kids Day Out’ programme in September.

The event, which is also supported by the state government, will take place on Sept 28 at the CAT Hall, Caring Society Complex from 8am to 12pm.

State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee Daniel Gooi said that his office, together with FOCCAN and JKNPP, will focus on providing emotional support to the children and their families who are experiencing stress.

“A study conducted by FOCCAN shows that unaddressed emotional problems can lead to family discord.

“Therefore, it is important to provide the emotional and professional support needed to help them undergo treatment more effectively.

“The programme involves various parties, namely Health Ministry’s Mentari Team, Lions Club, Maybank and others,” Gooi said during a press conference held recently.

FOCCAN, an organisation dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with cancer, offers early assistance of RM300 to affected children.

In addition to financial aid, FOCCAN also supplies essential items such as powdered milk, diapers, and emergency funds to families experiencing financial difficulties.

To continue providing services for children with cancer in the northern region, FOCCAN requires RM5,000 monthly.
