THE Federation School for the Deaf, (FSD) now known as Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Persekutuan, will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
To commemorate this significant milestone, a run called the FSD Charity Run’, organised by the school, FSD alumni, and FSD PTA, will be held on July 27.
State Transport and Infrastructure Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the school is the first educational institution established in Malaysia for the deaf and mute individuals.
“This school holds a special place in my heart as my father Khir Johari was part of the school administration board and I visited it as a child.
“I am happy to support the programmes organised by FSD, and we encourage the public to join the run as a way to support the school,” Zairil said during a press conference at Komtar today.
The run is limited to 1,000 participants and those who are interested can register online via https://howei.com/event_details/larianamal5km70thanniversary or by scanning the QR.
Registration is open until July 14.
The FSD, located in Tanjong Bungah, will be the start and end point of the run.
Participants will be given medals and RM5 worth of coupons to take part in the ‘Karnival Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang’, which will take place simultaneously.
Additionally, the school is also set to organise the Jubilee Platinum Charity Dinner.
