THE cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) must be practised at the grassroots level to ensure victory for both coalitions in the state polls on Aug 12 under the unity government banner, caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.
Describing the collaboration between both sides as a new experience, Chow emphasised the unity message must be spread to each constituency in Penang.
“We understand that it is not easy for supporters from both coalitions to come together, but the spirit of unity must be felt at the grassroots.
“We believe that the ‘psychology fortress’ in the Sungai Acheh constituency will be broken with our sincerity to uphold the spirit of unity,” he told reporters after his visit to Sungai Udang, Nibong Tebal today.
Accompanying Chow during his walkabout were Sungai Acheh BN candidate Rashidi Zinol, Bukit Tambun PH candidate Goh Choon Aik, and Bukit Tengah PH candidate Gooi Hsiao-Leung.
They went from house to house, greeting the voters in the constituency. They also had light moments with the residents to understand the local issues.
Chow highlighted the importance of the PH-BN partnership.
“We need to urge our supporters (PH and BN) to vote for our contesting candidates,” Chow said.
Rashidi, who is a local in Sungai Acheh, thanked Chow, PH and BN’s election campaign team for lending their support to him.
He pledged to continue to engage the people in Sungai Acheh.
