SPM students all geared up for examination

IT’S finally happening, well hopefully without any more postponement after this.

Over the last year, school-going children, especially those sitting for major examinations such as the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) have been on the edge, not knowing how their academic year was going to pan out.

After what has proven to be a devastating year for SPM students across Malaysia, the examination is now ready to commence from Feb 22 onwards this year, as announced by the Federal Government recently.

Buletin Mutiara approached several SPM students from last year’s academic year to understand their feelings better as the examination draws closer now.

Juanita Sharon, who studies in one of the schools located in the heart of George Town, said that she feels happy that she can finally sit for the examination after a couple of postponements from last year.

At the same time, she is hoping that the examination will go as planned without any further disruption.

“I hope that no one will ever face this kind of situation again. It is not only stressful that they have a pending public exam, but also frustrated because of the often disrupted online classes due to connectivity issues.

“I would like to wish all my fellow SPM buddies the very best.

“It has been a challenging ride thus far, but let’s remember that no success is possible without going through a little bit of storm here and there,” Juanita said during a phone interview with Buletin Mutiara.

Another student, Puah Shu Fern said that she is excited that the examination is finally happening and hopes to score well after being given more time to prepare due to obvious reasons.

“Although we (students) had to go through quite a roller-coaster ride before finally reaching this very important point, I believe all SPM students will do their very best,” she said.

Safia Ambar Muzil, a student who shares a similar view as the other two, said that she can’t wait to complete the examination and move forward in life.

“We, as students, especially exam-sitting ones, are one way or another to be thrown multiple challenges, so I took this trying period of Covid-19 pandemic as a challenge.

“There were many difficulties along the way, but what’s important at the end of the day is that we stay strong despite the unpleasant moments and keep moving forward.

“All the very best to all my friends afar and near who are sitting for the examination,” Safia said.
