Kumaran announced that the initiative is a collaboration between the PHEB and IPTS.

He mentioned almost 60 scholarships worth RM2 million will be offered to deserving Indian students from B40 families.

“The participating IPTS are Twintech International University College of Technology, Mahsa University, Peninsula College and Binary University of Management & Entrepreneurship.

“The scholarships cover a range of courses, including business administration, computer science, accounting, marketing, technology and more, for foundation, diploma and degree levels.

“Interested students can apply starting from July 23. They can download the application form from the PHEB website.

“The closing date is July 29, so students should apply as soon as possible as classes at participating institutions are expected to start early next month,” Kumaran told a press conference at his service centre in Butterworth yesterday (July 21).

Also present were Jelutong MP R.S.N. Rayer, who is also the PHEB chairman, Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng and Senator Dr R.A. Lingeshwaran.

According to Kumaran, priority will be given to excellent Indian students from B40 families who failed to get an offer from public universities.

“After filling out the form, students can submit it to my service centre or at the PHEB office in Macalister Road.

“We will then conduct interviews to select suitable candidates for the scholarships.

“I also want to thank participating IPTS for collaborating with PHEB to provide these sponsorships to Indian students in Penang,” he said.
