“Murukku is synonymous with Deepavali. It is a traditional Indian snack that is often prepared and enjoyed during this special festival. Deepavali, or Diwali, celebrates light, and food plays an important role in the festivities,” Kumaresan said.

“Murukku, with its crispy, spiral shape, made from rice and urad dal flour, is a beloved snack in the Indian community. Its crunchy texture and spiced flavour make it a favourite treat to share with guests during the celebrations,” he added.

The event also saw the participation of notable figures, including Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor Nurhidayah Che Rose and MBPP councillor Shafiz Rahim Raja.

The event successfully brought together people from various walks of life, uniting them in the festive spirit of Deepavali.
