WITH Christmas just round the corner, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow visited two children’s homes today to spread some cheer to them.
He showed his compassion and love by giving some items to the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home in Logan Road in the morning and St Joseph’s Home in Penang Road later in the afternoon.
Chow handed over face masks, hand sanitisers, hand soaps, rice, thermos flasks and ‘Back to School’ vouchers.
The Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home manager Mok Tong Sing thanked Chow and the state government for their kind contribution.
“I appreciate Chow’s kindness for contributing all these items, especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
“We will be giving all the donated items to the 23 children and 11 staff members in our children’s home here.
“It is a timely contribution during this challenging time,” he told Buletin Mutiara.
St Joseph’s Home board member Iruthaya Das was pleased with the contribution.
“The state has done a lot to help us, especially providing computers to our children here previously.
“We have a total of 20 children here and all of them will be back on Dec 28, a few days after Christmas.
“The oldest we have here is in Form Five while the youngest is in Primary Two,” he said.
Chow was happy to provide assistance to the children’s home.
“We will do our best to assist them as we understand that support is needed during this time.
“We have also given out computers to the children here to ensure they can follow their online study smoothly.
“Lastly, we want to wish them all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” he said.
