THE Penang Youth Development Centre (PYDC) Basketball Championship2016 kicked off at the Jalan Acheh basketball court on May 16
with 26 men’s and six women’s teams taking part.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng officiated the launching ceremony with the chairman of the tournament from the Southwest district, Soon Lip
Chee, who is also Jawi assemblymember.
The tournament is expected to be held over two weeks, with the final scheduled for May 29 at the Kampung Jawi basketball court.
Also present at the launching ceremony were Komtar assemblymember Teh Lai Heng and PYDC chief executive officer Teng Kok Liang.
Lim in his speech said the state government will always support sports activities to mould Penang into a prominent sports hub.
He added that the state government and PYDC had allocated RM90,000 to organise the basketball tournament.} else {
