OUTSTANDING support and generous contributions are key terms to describe the ongoing success of the state level ‘E-Learning Computer Programme’ as its purpose continues to bolster at the highest level.

Having already collected 492 electronic devices from various stakeholders under this programme, Solarvest Holdings Berhad became the latest addition to contribute 15 units of laptops to make it 507 units in total as of now.

The programme is aimed at providing needy students with electronic devices so that they can access online studies due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Out of the 507 units, 350 units had been repaired, 14 units are still being repaired while 128 units had been disposed off because they could not be recycled.

Chong Eng, who is the state executive councillor in charge of Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs, and who oversees the programme, was overwhelmed with the continuous support where the programme is concerned.

“Thank you for the generosity shown thus far by various parties as it shows how much importance all of you give towards education.

“It is with great confidence that I put forth my hope and faith for more and more contributions to come in due time to benefit more students,” Chong Eng said during a brief electronic devices handover ceremony by Solarvest at Komtar on Oct 9.

Solarvest was founded in 2012 with the vision to create a world where clean energy is easily accessible to many.

Since then, the company has been reputable and advocating for solar energy adoption and has grown to be a leading solar turnkey engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (“EPCC”) service provider.

Its branch manager Chew Chun Wei, who also holds the senior project manager title, said it was a privilege to be part of the programme and thanked the Penang government for making it possible for the company to contribute the electronic devices.

“It gives us utmost pleasure to see our contributions actually benefit many students who are in need of these devices during these critical times,” he added.
