OVER the last 15 years, the Penang government has brought positive changes, and it will continue to improve the living conditions and livelihoods of its people.
Chow said this when he attended the Pulau Tikus Chinese New Year (CNY) open house at Medan Maktab in Pulau Tikus this evening.
He also hoped that the current state government would be given the mandate by the people to serve Penang for another term (fourth term) in the upcoming state election.
“Under the election law as well as the constitution, we are allowed to prolong it (term ) until October (this year).
“But for me, since the last election was held on May 9 (2018), the Penang state assembly can be dissolved anyway after May 9 (this year).
“This is because we would have served the full term.
“Upon dissolution of the state assembly, the state election would be probably held in June or July, and the date is to be determined by the Election Commission.
“We hope that we will be given the mandate to continue serving Penang for the fourth term, as well as to continue developing and uplifting it to the next level,” Chow said.
Also present were state Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh, Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee, several Penang Island City Council councillors and other dignitaries as well.
