THE Penang government has allocated RM100,000 for youth organisations in the state this year.

State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi announced that the allocation is open for applications from youth organisations until March.

“Last year alone, the total fund approved was RM102,000, involving 34 youth organisations and 40 programmes.

“Applications submitted by the organisations will be reviewed by the Youth Development Fund Evaluation Committee, with a maximum approved fund of RM5,000 per organisation,” he said at a media conference in Komtar today.

Gooi expressed his hopes that the Youth Development Fund could assist the welfare of certain youth organisations.

Asked about the rejection of certain applications last year, Gooi explained that some applicants did not fulfil certain terms needed for fund allocation.

To qualify, organisations must be based in Penang, and their programmes must target those aged from 15 to 35. The programmes should focus on skills, volunteerism, leadership, and recognition, and must be organised before Nov 15 this year.

Applications must be submitted to the administrator through an email to [email protected].
