Chow said PHA, over the years, has played a significant role in the tourism industry of Penang.

He said this also includes their continued support of the state government’s efforts to promote Penang as a premier destination for travellers from all over the world.

“Penang has long been known as a destination that offers a unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty.

“Our island, with its rich heritage and vibrant culinary scene, attracts visitors from all corners of the globe.

“However, it is the warm hospitality and the world-class service provided by our hoteliers that truly make Penang an unforgettable destination,” Chow said in his speech during the PHA 67th Anniversary Dinner at the Ascott Gurney Penang in George Town this evening.

Also present were Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng and PHA chairman Foong Hon Beng.

According to Chow, the state government will continue to invest in infrastructure, promote Penang as a premier tourist destination, and ensure that the state’s policies are conducive to the success of the hotelier industry.

Chow also announced that under the Penang2030 vision, strategic initiative B3 (creating a variety of quality tourism products across the island and mainland) has managed to achieve 94% of targeted goals even before 2030.

“Apart from that, the expansion of the Penang International Airport, which is expected to be completed in 2028, will boost Penang’s connectivity to the world.

“To date, Penang serves more than 10 direct international flights to destinations around Asia and connects to more than 10 larger airports that serve the wider globe.

“We are aiming for more direct flights to Penang from key destinations, such as Seoul and Tokyo to further connect Penang to the world.

“By doing so, we hope to attract more visitors to Penang and boost the occupancy and revenue of your hotels,” said Chow.

Chow also shared plans to organise more regional and international level events to showcase Penang’s unique offerings.

He also congratulated PHA on its 67th anniversary.

“Your dedication and hard work have not only contributed to the success of your industry but have also played a vital role in strengthening the economic and social fabric of our state.

“I am confident that with your continued commitment, the next 67 years will be even more successful.

“Let us continue to build on our strengths, embrace new opportunities, and work together to make Penang a shining example of hospitality in the region and the world,” he said.

Foong expressed his optimism for continued collaboration between PHA and the state government for the betterment of the hotel industry in Penang.
