THE Penang government remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs in the state through training programmes, mentorship, and market access assistance.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Penang Entrepreneur Fashion Festival (FFUP) at Mercure Penang Beach Hotel in Tanjung Bungah yesterday (Feb 16), state Trade, Entrepreneurial Development and Rural Development Committee chairman Datuk Rashidi Zinol said the Penang government is dedicated to elevating local brands, which are rich in uniqueness and innovation, to greater heights.

“One of the key initiatives toward this goal is through the organising of FFUP, which serves as a platform to showcase the extraordinary creativity and talent of young fashion entrepreneurs.
“The objective of organising FFUP is not only to introduce new brands and designs but also to provide opportunities for business networking, experience sharing, and strengthening the position of our fashion entrepreneurs in the industry,” Rashidi said in his speech.
According to Rashidi, as the state executive councillor responsible for the entrepreneurial development portfolio, he expressed his pride in the commitment and dedication displayed by the young fashion entrepreneurs in this programme.
He highlighted that fashion is a dynamic industry that continuously evolves with time.
“Fashion is an industry that will never be left behind because it constantly evolves to keep up with trends. Moreover, the field offers numerous opportunities as there is always high demand from customers for unique and attractive clothing,” he added.
Rashidi added that the state government remains committed to fostering an environment where local entrepreneurs, particularly in the fashion industry, can thrive and make their mark on both local and international markets.
Speaking about the festival, Rashidi said FFUP is a one-day programme jointly organised by his office and Creative Culture Global Venture.
“Some 30 young fashion entrepreneurs involved in the one-day festival including students from local institutions,” he said.
Also present was Creative Culture Global Venture founder Ahmad Sobri Baharani.
