THE state government together with the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) will continue developing the Perai neighbourhood, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow said this when he attended the ‘Pesta Tanglung Kadun Perai’ at the Eco-Peacock Park, Taman Kimsar today.
“Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy and MBPP councillor David Marshall have brought up several issues concerning this neighbourhood when I had visited this place earlier.
“I am now waiting for the official submission of the suggestions concerning those issues from Dr Ramasamy and David Marshall.
“This is so that the state government together with MBSP can discuss how we can implement them (suggestions) to enhance the Perai neighbourhood.
“Apart from that, I am relieved to hear that flash floods in this area are getting lesser after being administrated by the Pakatan Harapan government for 15 years,” Chow added.
Chow said that as Malaysians, the people need to have forethought concerning the future of the country.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that the country is governed in a good manner (good leadership) so that everybody can have a good livelihood.
“Everyone deserves equal opportunities in education, employment, and so on,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Ramasamy said it is important to maintain the Sungai Perai to attract tourists to Eco-Peacock Park.
“The Eco-Peacock Park is situated next to the Sungai Perai, which makes it more attractive.
“We must make sure that the Sungai Perai is maintained,” Dr Ramasamy said.
He thanked the Perai residents for the continuous support given to him as the Perai assemblyman.
Marshall said he feels proud of the developments which have taken place in the Perai neighbourhood.
“The tanglung festival is being held at Taman Kimsar for the very first time and I am proud to see the transformation that has taken place in this area.
“I would like to thank the state government for developing this neighbourhood into a recreational place,” he added.
Chow, Dr Ramasamy and other dignitaries present also joined the Lantern Parade in Taman Kimsar.
Earlier, Chow also attended the ‘Pesta Tanglung Kadun Bukit Tengah’.
He said the future of Penang is in Seberang Perai.
He also urged the people to actively contribute to the betterment of the country, especially by fulfilling their voting duties.
“To save Malaysia we need everyone’s cooperation to bring down corrupted leaders and their leadership,” he said.
