A TWO-DAY ‘Career and Education Expo’ (EKSPEN) is now taking place at the Dewan Utama Pelajar, University Science Malaysia (USM).

The career cum education fair, with the theme ‘Leading Graduates to Leading Careers,’ is an annual event organised by USM through its ‘Centre For Alumni Liaison, Career & Graduate Employability (ACE) for the 17th consecutive time

It aims to help graduates decide on their career path as well as to guide students on the choices to make after completing school.

There are 70 booths taken up by companies, training providers and academic institutions at the exhibition.

On top of that, there are walk-in interviews conducted by several well-known companies which could help job seekers secure a job at the expo itself.

“Collaborating with USM is an important step for the state government especially when revolving education related initiatives.

“Having about 30,000 students as well as being the only university with the Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX) status, USM is a prestigious educational institution not only in the country but in Asia and also in the world.

“This year USM celebrates its 50th anniversary and is a pride of the state.

“In future, the state government is keen to assist USM in its glorious journey of educating the minds,” said Deputy Chief Minister II Prof P. Ramasamy during the opening ceremony of the expo on March 30.

According to Ramasamy, in November 2018 he organised a meet up between the principal of the Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), Madurai India and the USM Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Asma Ismail.

“The purpose of the meeting was to discuss collaboration between USM and Thiagarajar College,” said Ramasamy, who also attended the meeting.
