THE state government will look into an application by the school management board of SJK (C) True Light in Seberang Perai for an RM144,400 allocation to upgrade its facilities.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said they would consider the request which was made on Nov 1.
“The school management board has written to the state to apply for a fund for the upgrading purposes.
“They include plans to upgrade the science lab, design and technology lab, and audio-visual lab, which are estimated to incur RM144,400.
“We will look into it,” Chow briefly told reporters when met outside SJK (C) True Light at Perkampungan Juru when campaigning with his Batu Kawan parliamentary team today.
He added that the state had helped resolve other issues facing the school previously.
Bukit Tengah assemblyman Gooi Hsiao-Leung, who accompanied Chow, told the media that the state had also disbursed a total of RM461,000 to SJK (C) True Light from 2013 to 2022.
Also present were state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, who is Bagan Jermal assemblyman, school headmaster Lee Thiam Fatt, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Sim Shiau Juang and the school’s board representative Ch’ng Eng Seong.
Earlier, Chow and his team also visited Perkampungan Juru under the Bukit Tengah state constituency as part of his meet-the-people session during the campaign run-up to the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19.
There, he spent time chatting with the residents, hawkers and traders to understand more about any issues confronting them.
Among those present were Soon and Gooi.
Chow, who is contesting for the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat, is up against four other candidates who are Wong Chia Zhen (Perikatan Nasional), Tan Lee Huat (Barisan Nasional), Ong Chin Wen (Warisan) and Lee Ah Leong (Parti Rakyat Malaysia).
