THE Penang government is committed to collaborating closely with all the relevant authorities to ensure a consistent supply of poultry in the market while maintaining reasonable prices.
State Agrotechnology, Food Security and Cooperative Development Committee chairman Fahmi Zainol said the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry has been extending incentives to the livestock industry and providing financial assistance to poultry farmers.
“It is important to enhance their supply capabilities to meet the market demands.
“The Federal Government had earlier stated that the prices for poultry would be floated from Nov 1. Hence, we will strive to make sure the selling prices of poultry remain reasonable,” he said in a statement today.
Fahmi added that the collaborative efforts with the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) and the Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) have boosted the supply of chickens.
The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry had stated that the decision to lift the subsidy for chicken was in view of the trend of supply and its prices.
